Sa-wat-dee ka, Thailand!

Yaya always teaches us a few Thai words so we won't be typical 'farong' (white people). These are the only 2 I use, but they are the most important. Sa-wat-dee ka (female) or Sa-wat-dee kraup (male)= hello Kob Khun Ka or Kob Khun Kraup = thank you We left rainy KL for Krabi, Thailand on Sunday. The kids were excited about the short flight and beach time, but sad to leave Henry. Henry is Bubba and Yaya's cat and I don't really think he was sad to see us go. Here is a pic Tilly took and he appears to be hiding behind the computer. I don't think he is used to all the attention from 2 kids who love him!
It was really stormy so we had a three hour delay and the kids just wanted to ride the airport train back and forth between gates.
We flew Malaysia Airlines so I was already a little (a lot?) anxious about our short flight, considering their recent flight history. The thunder storm did not help, but we were pleasantly surprised by our flight - the plane was only about a quarter full and the food was good. We experienced a few bumps during take-off but the rest was a breeze, and after a short 90 minute flight we were in Krabi. Here are some excited kids!
We arrived later than planned due to the delay and we were all having a hard time getting on schedule, which meant we were asleep early and up early. After a short walk to check out the grounds we were off to bed. But look what we found on our walk: Snails!!
Our jet lagged sleep schedule worked out fine for our first morning in Krabi because we were up to stream the Seahawks game in the business center of the lobby at 4:30 am.
The hotel is beautiful, with 2 pools overlooking the beach and a welcoming lobby area. Here are some pics of our relaxing days at the pool.
The bird pic is for Mimi - it kept trying to steal Levi's french fries when he wasn't looking! The beach in front of the hotel (Klong Muang) is amazing, too. The water is turquoise and warm and the islands and boats make for great scenery.
The crab is covered in tiny burrowing crabs and they create really delicate patterns in the sand, like the photo above. The resort provided lots of fun besides the beach and pool. The lobby was beautiful and had a grassy spot that was great for some foot races.
We walked down to dinner at a thai restaurant on the hotel property our second night and caught a great sunset.
The time change proved difficult for the kids even almost a week after arriving in Asia. Dinners were tough, with most ending with both kids asleep at our table. At the end of this particular dinner, it started raining pretty hard, so we called a golf cart to come pick us up. The kids were bummed that the slept through the whole ride!
Breakfast was included in our stay and the cooks were artists - check out the pancake creations they made for the kids!
